Return to the Pentland Firth

iXSurvey continued building upon its experience of conducting geophysical surveys in high flow regimes with its return to the North of Scotland for renewable energy company. The client is interested in developing the site for tidal energy generation within the Sound of Stroma between the Scottish mainland and Stroma island. iXSurvey conducted a comprehensive geophysical survey utilising a Klein 3000 side scan sonar, sub-bottom profiler, magnetometer and high resolution multibeam (Reson 8125) equipment. Positioning was obtained utilising RTK GPS with subsea tracking via the IXSEA GAPS USBL system. The high quality data obtained allowed the client to evaluate the suitability of the seabed for turbine field development.
