Marine Current Turbines Site Investigation,
Strangford Lough
On behalf of Marine Current Turbines, iXSurvey conducted a survey of the installation and anchor locations of the Seagen prototype tidal turbine, now installed and operational in Strangford Lough.
Data were acquired from a locally chartered vessel, utilising Reson 8125 multibeam echosounder, USBL positioned sidescan sonar and surface towed boomer.
During the survey, flows of up to 8 knots were experienced together with large eddies; however high quality data were successfully recorded on all systems, providing depths of overburden and other foundation design information
